Mission
We accomplish our mission of promoting and supporting the development of school-based health care services through policy, advocacy,and technical assistance aimed at improving the health, well being, and academic success of students.
Vision
We envision a District of Columbia in which School Health Centers (SHCs) are an integral and financially sustainable part of the health care system for all children, especially for children in medically underserved areas of the District.
Goals
Goals of the DC Assembly
- Establish sustainable school-based health care programs at 10 sites in the District by 2010;
- Establish the DC Assembly as the policy leader for school-based health care in DC;
- Establish strategic relationships with other groups, agencies, and associations to develop a clear delineation of roles and responsibilities for advocacy and support of SHCs in DC;
- Work with City leaders to pass legislation and regulations to establish a funded and integrated SHC program;
- Secure approval of Medicaid funding for child health services delivered in SHCs;
- Establish organizational capacity to support an ongoing program of policy development, advocacy, school recruitment, provider recruitment, and technical assistance for school-based health care programs.
